Brazilian agricultural production today depends on more than 85% of imported fertilizers to be viable. This is what the Senado Agency indicates. This dependence means that Brazilian agriculture is at the mercy of fluctuations in the international fertilizer market, both in terms of price and supply availability. With this in mind, the Brazilian Association of Producers of Remineralizers and Natural Fertilizers (Abrefen), in partnership with the Group of Associated Farmers (GAAS) and Embrapa, will hold from December 5th to 7th the “Remineralizers Workshop – Tropicalizing Nature's Solutions for a Regenerative Agriculture: from mining to the table and its climate impacts”.
With the theme of soil remineralization, sustainable technologies and climate-responsible agriculture, the workshop aims to present and discuss the economic, productive and environmental impacts of Soil Remineralizers (REM), from their production to reaching the final consumer. In particular, the potential for capturing atmospheric carbon in the soil by REM will be addressed, considering tropical conditions and the productive profile of Brazilian agriculture.
Furthermore, the meeting also aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between rural producers, professionals in the agronomic field and companies in the sector located in Brazil and abroad.
“Advances and challenges of REM in the mineral sector”, “Advances and challenges of regenerative agriculture in the tropics” and “Carbon sequestration” are the main topics to be explored in depth in the scientific program, which includes the participation of several researchers and authorities in the field , representatives from Embrapa, UnB, GAAS and the Ministries (Mapa, MME, MDA, MMA and MDIC).
