This weekend, the Official Opening of the Wheat Harvest in the state of Rio Grande do Sul was held at Agropecuária São João in Cruz Alta. The event was part of the XVIII Fenatrigo and brought together producers, authorities, researchers, and representatives from various agribusiness organizations, celebrating the strength, tradition, and innovation of Rio Grande do Sul's wheat production.

According to Emater-RS estimates, the state's cultivated area is projected at 1,2 million hectares, a 10% decrease compared to 2024. Productivity is projected at 2.997 kg/ha. This projection indicates production of 3,59 million tons in 2025, compared to 3,7 million in 2024, according to the agency's data.

"Cruz Alta has a historic and emotional connection with wheat, a crop that represents not only the strength of our agribusiness but also the work and hope of thousands of families. It's a joy to see our city, once again, hosting an event that recognizes those who bring food to the table and drive the state's economy. The harvest is a symbol of prosperity and gratitude to rural producers, who plant, believe, and harvest with faith in the future," said Cruz Alta Mayor Paula Rubin Facco Librelotto.

The president of the XVIII Fenatrigo, Gustavo Jung Bilibio, emphasized the work of the producers and the importance of the fair. "Fenatrigo was born from the strength of wheat and Cruz Alta's commitment to agribusiness development. Being here today, participating in the Official Opening of the Wheat Harvest, is a moment of enormous significance for all of us who believe in the field, research, and innovation. Holding this event reaffirms the fair's commitment to agribusiness development and to the producers who make Rio Grande do Sul a model of productivity and innovation," he concluded.
