Syngenta with change of LATAM New Businesses Manager
The position was recently assumed by agronomist Caroline Cogo
Given the good profitability shown over recent years, the cotton lint production sector should increase the area under cultivation in this 2022/23 season. However, the possibility of a reduction in the world economy, due to the inflationary environment and cases of covid-19 in China, continues to worry the agents consulted by Cepea.
Conab (National Supply Company) projects an increase in Brazilian production for the 2022/23 harvest, of 16,6% compared to the 2021/22 season, reaching 2,973 million tons, which would be the second largest volume in history.
This should be the result of productivity of 1.815 kg/ha (growth of 13,9% compared to the 2021/22 harvest) and the increase in the sown area, of 2,3%, totaling 1,638 million hectares.
For now, agents consulted by Cepea indicate that the climate has favored sowing and crop development. Cotton farmers, however, remain alert to the rise in production costs, especially with fertilizers.
