Another relevant point concerns the potential of the virus-based biological market. Schmitt explains: “Today the level of adoption of biological technologies for the control of fall armyworm occupies a level of around 15% of the total market and it is necessary to reach a higher level of adoption, in conjunction with technologies based on chemical pesticides, improving the control mechanism and delivering more performance to the producer. It is estimated that in the near future this market will be able to reach levels of adoption of 50% of the use of biological pesticides based on viruses to control the Spodoptera complex, this will mean a potential market in the order of R$ 800 million, he predicts .
• In terms of adoption in open areas and large crops, Brazil is one of the largest markets when it comes to the application of microorganisms in open areas and large crops. To get an idea of the strength of the biological market, it is predicted that this market will grow, on average, 35% per year until 2025; and 25% by 2030.
• By 2020, according to industry-based research, there was revenue in the order of R$1,179 billion; and, in Brazil today, there are more than 100 companies with registrations of active biological products
