A vehicle for publishing Higher Education Institutions in Brazil and evaluating higher education courses for bachelor's and undergraduate degrees, the Student Guide, from Editora Abril, features the “Luiz de Queiroz” Higher Education School (Esalq/USP), as one of its main highlights of the 2018 edition.

In the evaluation of higher education courses carried out by the publication, Esalq achieved five stars in all undergraduate courses offered by the entity that were evaluated in 2018. “Society's recognition of the courses offered by the institution is very important. In the case of Esalq, which has a history of more than 100 years of teaching in the area of agricultural and applied sciences, the recognition is even greater, because all the courses evaluated received the maximum score”, celebrates Professor Luis Reynaldo Ferracciú Alleoni, from Department of Soil Science, President of the Culture and University Extension Commission at Esalq/USP, coordinator of the SolloAgro Continuing Education Program in Sustainable Agriculture.

The evaluated courses that achieved the maximum score are: Administration, Food Sciences, Biological Sciences (undergraduate and bachelor's degrees), Economic Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry Engineering and Environmental Management. The results are included in the Professionals Student Guide - Entrance Exam 2019, now on newsstands and, soon, also on the GE website.

According to the professor, this recognition helps students who have just completed high school to choose their course when enrolling at an institution to continue their studies and improve their knowledge. “This positive evaluation, something we already expected, only reinforces that Esalq is today, without a doubt, one of the best options, as well as one of the most traditional in teaching, research and extension”, adds Alleoni.

Furthermore, the coordinator highlights another important point regarding the results achieved. “For the institution it is, without a doubt, a recognition, because the University of São Paulo (USP) and, more specifically, Esalq, are supported by public resources, coming from the collection of taxes from the productive sector and the population of the State of São Paulo. Paulo and, being recognized means giving due return to society and all the investment that was made”, he emphasizes and concludes by informing that, currently, 430 places are offered at Esalq per year in seven undergraduate courses.
