Autumn fruits have lower prices in Paraná
Second corn harvest presents good development, with 92% of the planted area
Garlic producers from Curitibanos and Frei Rogério, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, participated in a pre-planting meeting for the 2023/2024 harvest, promoted by Epagri on April 26, with support from Grupo Alhos Alvorada Sul and Sicoob. The event was attended by 36 people and took place in the rural community of Xaxim, in Curitibanos.
The objective of the meeting was to present the results of research carried out by the Epagri Experimental Station in Caçador (EECD) and discuss the crisis in the price of garlic from the last harvest, which is in the commercialization phase. According to the rural extension worker from Curitibanos, Juliana Krammes, guidelines were provided for producers to adopt management strategies that bring the greatest economic return from the vegetable, so that the crop remains in the region and strengthens family farming.
At the opening of the event, Epagri's rural extensionist in Frei Rogério, Adriana Francisco, and the municipality's Secretary of Agriculture, Itamir Gasparini, spoke about the actions that entities and leaders are taking with the responsible bodies to raise awareness among authorities of the real problem faced. by garlic producers in Santa Catariana, in addition to presenting proposals to not make the culture unviable in the State.
The event featured two lectures with EECD researchers. Leandro Hahn presented the results of research on garlic seed size for planting, plant population per hectare and floral stem cutting and their results on crop yield. Anderson Feltrim presented results on seed quality and cold chamber management for garlic vernalization before planting.
The same event was held in Brunópolis, Fraiburgo and Lebon Régis, thus reaching the majority of the garlic producing region in Santa Catarina.
