2024/25 sugarcane harvest is a record in Goiás
State remains among the three largest producers in the country and reinforces its leading role in the sugar-energy chain
Embrapa Rondônia will turn 50 in May 2025. To mark the date, the institution will hold a special program at the 12th Rondônia Rural Show Internacional, from May 26 to 31, in Ji-Paraná. The event will bring together producers, researchers and technicians to present sustainable solutions and technologies aimed at agriculture in the Amazon.
The highlight of the celebration will be the Innovation Space, with demonstrations of technologies developed in recent decades. The Technological Showcase will feature cultivars adapted to the Amazon climate, forage for livestock and grains resistant to pests and diseases. The public will be able to taste honey, cassava, chestnuts and coffee produced with Embrapa technologies.
The technical program will include workshops, panels and debates on topics such as coffee farming, livestock farming, cassava, Brazil nuts and fish farming. Alternative forage sources, genetic improvement strategies and reduction of antimicrobial use in dairy production will be addressed.
One of the launches will be the CarbCafé project calculator, which estimates the carbon sequestered by Robusta coffee plantations in Rondônia. The tool consolidates the role of Rondônia's coffee industry in the climate agenda and will also be presented at COP 30 in Belém.
Another notable advance will be Rede Café, which selected 64 Amazonian Robusta clones based on criteria such as productivity, beverage quality and disease tolerance. In 2024, 20% of the clones exceeded 85 bags per hectare, with peaks of 140 bags. The project values the knowledge of farmers and strengthens the region's genetic resources.
Experts will also discuss solutions for adapting to and mitigating climate change, focusing on regenerative coffee farming, agroforestry systems and sustainable intensification of livestock farming. The initiative anticipates topics that will be discussed at COP 30.
The workshops are free, with limited spaces. The activities will be broadcast live on Embrapa's digital channels.
