Embrapa will hold its traditional Soybean Field Day on February 13 (Thursday), starting at 8 am, at the experimental field of Embrapa Rondônia, in Vilhena, located on BR 364, Km 6, towards Mato Grosso. Participation in the Field Day is free and the program includes a presentation of transgenic and conventional soybean cultivars, as well as information on crop management, grain marketing, Crop-Livestock Integration and forage crops.

The event will also be in partnership with the Association of Soybean and Corn Producers of Rondônia (Aprosoja-RO), which will provide participants with important information about the soybean moratorium and grain classification. Marcelo Lucas da Silva, director of administration, Victor Paiva, executive director, and the classifier Claudionice Alves will be present.

Researcher Rodrigo Brogin, from Embrapa Soja, highlights that the Field Day is an excellent opportunity to exchange and update information about the crop, in addition to strengthening links between the main players in the sector.

Soybean

Soybeans are the main grain crop in the state of Rondônia, with an estimated 2024 thousand hectares of sown area for the 2025/673,4 harvest and an expected production of over 2,34 million tons of grain, according to data from Conab. These data show the continuous expansion of the crop in the state and it is worth noting that the increase in the cultivation area is occurring almost exclusively on pasture areas, avoiding deforestation, says Vicente Godinho.

According to Vicente Godinho, a researcher at Embrapa Rondônia, in this harvest, in addition to the challenge of coexisting with Asian soybean rust, two other major problems were detected: pod anomalies and soybean stem breakage, which are still being studied and have caused major problems for producers in some regions, reducing grain quality and productivity.
