According to the Embrapa Rondônia researcher, the state is expected to have a good soybean harvest. “We had favorable weather conditions for soybeans. We are already on our way to almost 50% of the harvested area and expectations are good”, points out Godinho.

Rondônia is the third largest soybean producer in the North Region and cultivated around 2018 thousand hectares of the grain in the 2019/300 harvest, producing approximately 1 million tons. When evaluating productivity, the state comes first in the region, with an average productivity in the last harvest of 3.325 kg/ha, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE.

According to data from the National Supply Company - Conab, the area planted with soybeans in Rondônia, in the 2019/2020 harvest, is expected to be 4,3% larger than that of the previous harvest, reaching 348,4 thousand hectares. Production is estimated at 1,14 million tons, an increase of 2,7% compared to the last harvest.

The state follows the national trend of a record harvest. A total volume of around 251,1 million tons is estimated, signaling an increase of 3,8% or 9,1 million tons in relation to the 2018/19 harvest. Soybean cultivation should be 7,1% higher than the previous harvest, producing 123,2 million tons. This increase is due to the increase in cultivated area by 2,3% and favorable weather conditions.
