Embrapa presents results of partnerships with Agritechs, during seminar in the United Arab Emirates

In the last two years, Brazil has registered a 40% increase in the number of agritechs and Embrapa is among the hundred companies that develop important partnerships with this segment of Brazilian agriculture, announced the president of Embrapa, Celso Moretti, in his participation in Agritalks UAE Edition, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday (23). Sustainable practices in Brazilian agribusiness and investment opportunities in the sector were the themes presented in the Agritalks Emirates edition.
The event was organized by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex Brasil) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) and Embrapa. High-level spokespeople, Brazilians and foreigners, participated, including ministers, representatives of chambers of commerce, influencers and CEOs linked to agriculture. Among Brazilian public authorities, the Secretary of Innovation, Fernando Camargo, the governor of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes and the president of Embrapa, Celso Moretti, stand out.
With the theme “Productivity and gains driven by innovation in agricultural projects”, the president of Embrapa highlighted the important role in driving innovation played by Brazilian agritechs, mainly in the area of Innovative Foods and New Trends, Farm Management Systems, Marketplaces and Platforms Sales and Remote Sensing.
Among the examples of success stories resulting from partnerships between the state-owned company and the private sector, the president cited Biomaphos, a national inoculant for phosphorus solubilization, the result of a partnership between Embrapa and the company Bioma, launched in August 2019; the Auras bioinput, launched by Embrapa in partnership with the company NOOA Science and Technology, and considered the first commercial product designed to mitigate the effects caused by water stress on plants, with no competitors registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa).
Also presented as success stories were research into biological control carried out by Embrapa in partnership with the startup Birdview, a pioneer in the unmanned aerial application of biodefensive products; the use of a robot with artificial intelligence for soil analysis in agriculture (LIBS), technology developed by Embrapa in partnership with the company Agrorobótica; the Multiparameter Probe for Aquaculture, developed in partnership with the startup Acqua Nativa, and the production of vegetables in vertical farms with the company 100% Livre.
Moretti also spoke to the group of Arab and Brazilian businesspeople and authorities from both countries about the work that the Company is developing in the “plant based segment” line, in partnership with Amazônika Mundi. “We also highlight in the field of research the various technological solutions related to digital agriculture being developed by our research teams”, emphasized the president of Embrapa.
When talking about Embrapa, Moretti highlighted the importance of the state-owned company not only for Brazil, but for the world. And he added: “Our team is made up of more than 2 thousand researchers, distributed across 43 research centers, 34 research portfolios, 1.110 projects. There are more than 600 laboratories and 93 genetic improvement programs for plants and animals. We have offices in Europe and the United States. We consider partnerships with the private sector to be of great relevance, in an open innovation process, where everyone wins. And agritechs are part of this set of partners”, highlighted the manager.
