To enable the adoption of controlled traffic in sugarcane fields, in addition to changes in the spacing between crop rows, new configurations are necessary.
Due to the large number of registrations for the first edition of the course online "Production and Technology of Seedlings and Seeds", with more than 1.500 interested parties on the waiting list, Embrapa Semiárido decided to expand the audience served and hold a second edition. The new training will be held between June 15th and 26th.
The course is aimed at producers, technicians, students, teachers and other interested parties. Registration is free and begins on Tuesday, June 9th, via the link available here.
For researcher Bárbara França Dantas, from Embrapa Semiárido, organizer of the event, “the Brazilian seed sector, be it grains, vegetables, forage or forestry, is essential for maintaining the efficiency standards of national agribusiness”. That's why the course is held, in which the main and most modern techniques for producing high-quality seeds and seedlings will be presented.
The program includes video classes, bibliographic and technical-scientific material for consultation and doubt-solving classes online, totaling 60 hours. The course is taught by renowned professors and researchers in the field of seeds and seedlings, who will present their research work and knowledge on the subject.
Topics will be covered such as the multidisciplinary nature of seed science and technology, formation, development, maturation and chemical composition of seeds, factors that affect production, causes and methods to overcome dormancy, evaluation of germination performance, concepts of quality, vigor and factors that affect it, seed-borne pathogens and control methods, insect control in stored seeds, legislation on seeds and seedlings, in addition to handling, processing and packaging.
