FMC Corporation to present new growth plan to investors
The plan will be presented on November 16, 2023, at the company's headquarters in Philadelphia, with the presence of high-level executives
Embrapa will launch three soybean cultivars (BRS MG27, BRS 11IPRO and BRS 2023) on March 534th, at 7981am, in its Technology Showcase, at Tecnoshow 7781. In addition, there will be demonstrations of different technological solutions for production systems and researchers will give technical lectures in the Comigo Technological Center auditorium. Tecnoshow will be promoted by the cooperative Comigo, from March 27th to 31st, in Rio Verde (GO). Discover the technologies:
BRS MG534 is a conventional soybean cultivar with high productivity, production stability and which also includes Shield technology, which has genes for resistance to Asian rust. Developed by Embrapa Soja and Fundação Meridional, the Shield cultivar is an important genetic tool in the context of integrated management. Even though it does not eliminate the use of fungicides, it provides greater efficiency and safety in the chemical management of the disease. The cultivar also stands out for being resistant to the main soybean diseases (bacterial pustule, frog's eye spot, stem canker), moderate resistance to powdery mildew and the two main root-knot nematodes. The cultivar is from maturity group 7.2, which allows for a second harvest, both corn and cotton or sorghum. The BRS MG 534 is recommended for different regions of Goiás (RECs 301, 302, 303, 304 and 401), Distrito Federal (REC 304), Minas Gerais (RECs 302, 303, 304 and 401), São Paulo (REC 302) and Mato Grosso (REC 402).
BRS 7981IPRO has a medium cycle (around 120 to 125 days in the DF and region and around 115 days in West Bahia and Mato Grosso). Developed in partnership with Fundação Cerrados and Fundação Bahia, it has high production potential and can be cultivated in Central Brazil, in the MATOPIBA region, in Tocantins and in Mato Grosso, a state where it is an option for producers who intend to plant second-crop corn. . The cultivar's main distinguishing feature is its rusticity, with roots that go deep into the soil. The cultivar supports summers of more than 15 days with some ease, as it will deliver good productivity. The BRS 7981IPRO can also be used in integration systems with other crops, such as the soybean-cane system, a technology that will soon be launched by Embrapa.
BRS 7781 is a conventional soybean cultivar with a cycle that varies depending on the region of indication, being semi-early (Minas Gerais, Goiás and Distrito Federal) and early (West of Bahia). Developed in partnership with Fundação Cerrados and Fundação Bahia, it has high production potential, allowing greater economic return to the producer. The plant is erect and resistant to lodging and the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica, which allows for better management of areas contaminated by this phytonematode. Because it is conventional, it has the advantage of receiving premiums on the selling price of grains in the “Free Soy” markets.
Developed by Embrapa Arroz e Feijão, the carioca bean cultivar BRS FC415 presents high productivity, excellent commercial quality and tolerance to soil pathogens. The cultivar stands out for its great adaptation to different producing regions, productive potential of approximately 3.915 kg/ha and excellent commercial quality of the grains, which have slow browning, one of the most important demands required by the market today. With a semi-erect architecture, ideal for mechanized harvesting, BRS FC415 has a normal cycle (85 to 94 days, from emergence to physiological maturity), with moderate resistance to Fusarium wilt, enabling adoption in old cultivation areas. This launch should contribute to reducing the use of agricultural pesticides and, consequently, the impact on the environment and human health, favoring increased sustainability in agricultural production.
Embrapa results prove that corn seeds inoculated with the bacterium Azospirillum brasilense (Ab-V5 and Ab-V6 strains) have enabled an average reduction of 25% in nitrogen top dressing, considering a dose of 90 kilos (kg) per hectare of nitrogen. The technology for inoculating corn with the bacterium Azospirillum brasilense also allows an average increase of 3,1% in grain productivity.
Embrapa Soja will also demonstrate multifunctional pasture inoculation technology, which associates microorganisms with multifunctional properties (Azospirillum brasilense and Pseudomonas fluorescens). This innovation has the potential to increase, on average, the production of pastures with brachiaria by 22%, in addition to increasing nutrient absorption. Inoculation with Azospirillum bacteria via seeds or foliar route in established pastures results in an average increase of 13% in N content and 10% in K content in the aerial part. In turn, seed or foliar inoculation with Pseudomonas allows an increase of 11% in the potassium (K) content and 30% in phosphorus (P) content in the aerial part. During the TecnoShow, visitors will be able to follow demonstration units inoculated and without inoculation of bioinputs to evaluate the benefits of the technology
The BRS Oquira forage peanut, developed by Embrapa Acre, is rich in protein and has high forage production. The technology is an alternative to intensify meat and milk production and enable more sustainable pasture-based livestock farming in the Amazon, Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes. Embrapa studies show that, in fertilized and irrigated crops, the crude protein content in the plant reaches 29%, a value that guarantees quality food for the herd and improves animal productivity. In experiments without fertilization and irrigation, the BRS Oquira cultivar presented 22% crude protein, fiber content around 43% and 68% dry matter digestibility (forage). The research results also showed that BRS Oquira is tolerant to waterlogged soils. This characteristic also makes it possible to intercrop with grasses adapted to this condition.
The chickpea cultivar BRS Kalifa, developed by Embrapa Hortaliças, is open pollinated and presents production stability, which makes it suitable for cultivation in the dry season, with sowing from February to March. In irrigated cultivation, sowing should take place from April to May in areas with altitudes above 600 meters. It is also recommended for planting in off-season (dryland) as it is more precocious. The cultivar is highly productive, reaching 2.500 kg/ha in irrigated areas and 2.000 kg/ha in rainfed areas. The BRS Kalifa cultivar has a suppressive effect on small caterpillars (Helicoverpa armigera and Chloridea virescens), tolerance to root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) and reduces population levels of race 5 of soybean cyst nematode. The cultivar is rich in protein, with levels varying between 25,3% and 28,9%; among other relevant nutritional characteristics.
Embrapa Cerrados will be demonstrating wheat cultivars with high grain yield potential, technological quality aligned with industry requirements. BRS 264 is recommended for irrigated cultivation in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and the Federal District. It can also be used in a rainfed system in the south of Minas Gerais. It has a super early cycle, sprouting in 40 days and maturation in 110 days (average), being extremely productive and with excellent acceptance by the industry. The cultivar has an average plant height of 80 cm, average productivity of 6.000 kg/ha and a thousand seed weight of 40g. It is moderately resistant to lodging and resistant to threshing.
In addition to being the most planted in the Cerrado of Central Brazil, the BRS 404 cultivar, for rainfed cultivation, has an early cycle, commercial bread class and stability in flour production. BRS 404 was the first cultivar to show greater tolerance to blast, an important fungal disease that affects triticulture in the region. It is recommended for cultivation in Goiás, the Federal District and Minas Gerais. It has a yield potential of 40 sc/ha and was developed for rainfed areas with altitudes equal to or greater than 800 meters.
