Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz) assesses that the business mission plays an important role in bringing the two countries closer together
Embrapa, in partnership with Fundação Bahia, launches, on June 5th, during the Bahia Farm Show 2018 – Agricultural Technology and Business Fair, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA), the soybean cultivar BRS 8781 RR, cycle adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of Matopiba (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and the states of Goiás (including the Federal District) and Mato Grosso.
The BRS 8781 RR cultivar has high productive potential and is resistant to root-knot nematodes (M.incognita and M. javanica), the soybean mosaic virus and phytophthora root rot, which contributes to the sustainability of the agricultural production system. In addition to resistance to the main soybean diseases, the cultivar has a size (the plant has an average height of 90 cm) that allows it to adapt in open areas and also in fertile soils, depending on the region.
The deputy head of Technology Transfer and coordinator of the Soy Genetic Improvement Program at Embrapa Cerrados (DF), Sebastião Pedro Neto, and researchers André Ferreira and Geraldo Estevam Carneiro, also from Embrapa Cerrados, will participate, on the afternoon of the 30th. in May, a Workshop on research results together with the board of directors of Fundação Bahia.
Those interested in obtaining information about the cultivar being launched and other Embrapa research can visit the stand of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) until next Sunday (3), the closing date of the Bahia Farm Show 2018.
