Embrapa launches notice for producers interested in producing forage peanut seedlings

Seedling and seed producers interested in propagating the peanut cultivars BRS Oquira (seedlings) and BRS Mandobi (seeds), and using the “Embrapa Technology” brand, can register to purchase lots launched by Embrapa. Proposals will be accepted until January 31st.

According to the notice, registration in the National Seed and Seedling Registry – RENASEM, as a producer of forage peanut seedlings, is one of the prerequisites to compete for lots of cultivars. For more detailed information, access the full notices here.

Another important detail is that producers will be able to purchase a batch of each material offered. However, if there are remaining lots, they may express interest in obtaining them. Of the BRS Oquira cultivar, 144 lots with 25 kilos of raw seedlings are being offered, at a value of R$125,00 reais per lot, the recommended quantity for planting an area of ​​one thousand square meters.

Regarding BRS Mandobi, Embrapa is offering four lots: a lot consisting of 20 kilos of seeds from the cultivar with 55% germination, at a value of 3 thousand reais, the recommended amount for planting an area of ​​approximately 0,25 hectares . The other three lots of the cultivar are made up of 20 kilos of seeds with 45% germination, recommended for planting in an area of ​​approximately 0,25 hectares, at a value of R$3 each lot. The first producer who expresses interest in purchasing and meeting the requirements set out in the Notice will be awarded the batch with 55% germination.

Advantages of cultivars

BRS Mandobi, in addition to being propagated by seeds, has excellent intercropping capacity with grasses, high vigor and high quality forage productivity. It is well consumed by livestock, improving the quality of the animal's diet due to the plant's high protein content and high digestibility. The material is suitable both for the formation of new pastures in a consortium with grasses, and for planting in already established pastures.

The recommended seeding rate is 12 kilograms of seeds per hectare. In already established pastures, it is suggested to plant in strips across 50% of the area. It is a forage legume that has the characteristics of a long lifespan and quickly covers the soil, protecting it against the direct impact of rain and sun.

The BRS Oquira cultivar is propagated by seedlings and recommended for soils of medium fertility, and can also be used in intensive systems, with irrigation and fertilization, and stands out in relation to other forage peanut cultivars available on the market due to its high productivity. forage and greater drought tolerance. The two cultivars were developed by Embrapa in partnership with other institutions.
