As part of a schedule of visits to the Units, the director of Research and Development at Embrapa, Celso Moretti, who is also responsible for supervising the unit, was in Serra Gaúcha, visiting Embrapa Uva e Vinho, on Tuesday the 18th of June. Articulated by the Head of the Unit, the visit aimed to align the research program within the changes that have recently occurred in the Company.
Moretti highlighted the importance of visiting Embrapa units, to internalize management's concepts about the changes underway and to listen to employees' concerns. “I was impressed to see the number of people who participated in the meetings. It’s a demonstration that people are connected and interested in learning about the changes,” he said.
The director visited 37 of the 42 decentralized units and comments that this strategy makes it possible to understand what problems exist at the end, helping the Executive Board to bring solutions to facilitate and make the work of the units within the production chains with which they are involved more effective.
In the morning, Moretti participated in a meeting with all employees, including the Experimental Stations (Jales -SP and Vacaria -RS), via video conference. He presented the lecture "Five decades of agricultural innovation" and was available to the team to answer questions. Afterwards, he walked around the unit's facilities, accompanied by the head of R&D, Adeliano Cargnin, and the head of TT, Marcos Botton.
The lunch break was dedicated to learning about the unit's work on Geographical Indications for Fine Wines, with a visit to Casa Valduga, in the heart of Vale dos Vinhedos, where he was welcomed by one of the owners, João Valduga. “Talking with João Valduga was really cool, because he demonstrated that the work you developed and continue to do here is very important. This is what we want, for our units to remain connected and delivering value to Brazilian society”, said Moretti.
Closing his day of activities, in the afternoon, the director met with the technical staff of Embrapa Uva e Vinho and presented an assessment of the Unit's research program, remaining available to answer the group's questions.
