With an estimated increase of 61,44% in wheat production in the State for the 2021 Winter Harvest, compared to the previous year, Rio Grande do Sul will harvest the largest Winter Harvest since 2015, with a total production of 4,4, 3,4 million tons of grains, including 819 million tons of wheat, 128 thousand tons of white oats, 58 thousand tons of barley and 55,2 thousand tons of canola. The increase in total production is 2,8% compared to the previous year (XNUMX million tons).

The launch took place this Monday morning (20/12), at the Emater/RS-Ascar Central Office, in Porto Alegre, and was attended by the state secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Seapdr), Silvana Covatti , and the president of the Technical and Administrative Council of Emater/RS (CTA) and the Administrative Council of Ascar (Conad), Erli Teixeira, in addition to the president and technical director of Emater/RS, Edmilson Pelizari and Alencar Rugeri.

"We are very happy with this estimate, as we had the largest wheat production in history, being the second largest area cultivated with this grain, also reflecting an increase in productivity. The result was a win-win relationship, the producer won, the consumer and the economy of our State, with increasingly thriving agriculture", assessed the secretary, highlighting that this evolution is the result of the joint work of farmers, Emater/RS-Ascar technicians and property management, with incentive from the State government, through Seapdr. "The numbers are very significant and we have to celebrate," said Silvana.

Recordes

According to the survey carried out by the Emater/RS-Ascar Planning Management and presented by technical director Alencar Rugeri, wheat also stands out for the increase of 23,45% in the total cultivated area (1,17 million hectares) and 30,72 .2,8% in productivity (XNUMX tons per hectare).

"This increase is due to the dry and colder than average winter. If August had been less rainy, the year could be considered ideal for wheat cultivation", explains Rugeri, who defends the Planning, Management and Professionalism on the part of farmers. "This way we will be able to consolidate and establish production systems that give us more peace of mind", said the technical director.

For the president of Emater/RS, Edmilson Pelizari, the positive production, area and productivity numbers reflect the work of the farmers, but also the work and commitment of Emater extension agents and all the support provided by Seapdr.
