Among the 16 thematic spaces prepared by Emater-RS at Expodireto Cotrijal 2023, the section on grain drying and storage presents a proposal that can be adapted to different property profiles. Extension agents are guiding visitors interested in this technology.

Responsible for the plot, the company's rural extension agent, Idanir Bianchetti, shows a prototype of a masonry drying silo, which is present in the space, and helps producers to better understand its operation and obtain information on the preparation of the technical projects prepared.

What draws attention are the various benefits of this proposal, such as the simplicity in construction and management of the drying silo, as well as its financial advantages, says Bianchetti.

The implementation of drying and storage silos on the property, with projects prepared by Emater-RS, has advanced throughout RS as it brings benefits to the producer, such as maintaining product quality, adding value and greater autonomy at the time of commercialization. Coordinator of the thematic portion, Bianchetti observes that, over the years, the demand for information on the subject in municipal offices has increased, and this is also observed during Expodireto, in the drying and storage portion.

In addition to preparing the project, the Institution assists with grain production and monitors the construction and management of the silo. The silos designed by Emater-RS are simple buildings, made of masonry, provide easy handling and, generally, encourage the local and regional market with the acquisition of materials and use of labor.

The strategic functions of preparing technical projects and building these drying silos are to conserve seeds for next year's planting, guarantee food for the family itself, directly or indirectly, and also enable the sale of surpluses at higher prices, due to the added value of its quality.

In addition, you can sell by-products, such as the broken grain that comes out during the pre-cleaning process, explains the Emater-RS extension agent. Likewise, this technology offers the possibility of greater autonomy for the producer, who, with the product available on his property, chooses the best time to sell it.
