EMATER/RS-ASCAR and CropLife Brasil signed a technical cooperation agreement to promote the qualification program for applicators of chemical and biological agricultural pesticides, called Aplicador Legal, as well as the periodic inspection program for agricultural sprayers, the Inspeciona-RS .

The partnership aims to double EMATER/RS-ASCAR's capacity to carry out applicator training courses and the number of agricultural sprayers inspected between July 2022 and June 2023, when compared to the previous period.

Due to the publication of Decree 10.833/2021, a cooperation network is being created to expand the scope of professional education actions that are already being promoted through Normative Instructions from the State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development.

With the Legal Applicator program, training courses and registration will be required for all pesticide and similar applicators, including those who work in family farming.

Training is important to increase awareness about risks, as well as guide appropriate application, aiming to protect the environment, food safety and best practices for human health.

According to Alex da Silva Corrêa, president of Emater/RS and general superintendent of Ascar, “a partnership between entities that are in some way involved in training for the appropriate use of pesticides is essential, seeking effectiveness, reducing environmental risks and generating economic return. This agreement will enable the execution of courses that comply with IN 05/2019”.

Among the objectives of the agreement is to carry out updating and leveling courses for EMATER/RS-ASCAR extension workers.

“Only with the evolution of professional education programs, that is, the incorporation of modern technologies in crops, such as biological and chemical pesticides, the use of certified seeds, biotechnology and digital agriculture, in addition to good agronomic practices, will it be possible improve competitiveness and maintain Brazil as one of the main protagonists of global agribusiness”, explains Christian Lohbauer, executive president of CropLife Brasil.
