Emater-RS released the updated estimate for the 2023-2024 summer grain harvest. The Secretary of Agriculture, Giovani Feltes, was present at the event. Rio Grande do Sul is expected to harvest more than 35,023 million tons of grains in the current harvest, in a planted area of ​​more than 8,43 million hectares.

Soybean production is estimated at around 22,24 million tons, with a planted area of ​​6,68 million hectares.

Irrigated rice, according to data from the Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute, occupies an area of ​​900.203 hectares. Emater-RS estimates productivity of 8.325 kg/ha and a production of more than 7,49 million tons of grain.

Corn had a planted area of ​​812.795 hectares and the production projection is 5,20 million tons.

The 1st harvest beans, in an area of ​​25.264 hectares, reached a production close to 48,54 thousand tons. In the 2nd harvest, the estimate is that beans will be cultivated on 19.900 hectares and obtain a production of 31,20 thousand tons.

Corresponding to the productivity of these crops, in the 2023/24 summer harvest, soybeans have an estimated average productivity in Rio Grande do Sul of 3.329 kg/ha. Compared to the previous harvest, which was 1.949 kg/ha, the crop presents an increase in productivity of 70,83%.

The corn crop also showed an increase in productivity, reaching 32,23% when compared to the 2022-23 harvest. The current average productivity estimate is 6.401 kg/ha.
