Aguia Fertilizers received the installation license for its phosphate plant, which will be built in the municipality of Lavras do Sul (RS). The announcement was made by the Secretary of the Environment and Infrastructure of Rio Grande do Sul, Marjorie Kauffmann, during the first edition of the Universo Pecuária fair.
“Agricultural commodities have a huge impact on the country's GDP and this project was born with the proposal to serve national agribusiness, which is so rich in possibilities, but so dependent on imported fertilizers. We want to offer the market a natural product, with excellent cost-benefit and 100% national”, reinforces Fernando Tallarico, CEO of Aguia.
The expectation is that the construction of the unit will be completed within twelve months after the start of work, with an investment of around R$35 million. Annually, the company will deliver 300 thousand tons of natural phosphate fertilizer to the market, with the capacity to meet up to 15% of Rio Grande do Sul's demand.
The unit will feature a pioneering production model in the country, with zero water use, zero energy balance and neutral carbon. “We are very proud to develop a project with unprecedented environmental credentials in the state and with the possibility of contributing to the strengthening of agribusiness, in addition to reducing Brazilian dependence on fertilizers from other countries”, concludes Tallarico.
