The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released scientific opinions on the data provided for renewal of authorization for genetically modified soybeans under events 40-3-2 (GTS 40-3-2), MON 87701 and MON 87701 × MON 89788.

The applications were submitted by Bayer Agriculture BV on behalf of Bayer CropScience. Bayer Agriculture BV is a legal entity with limited liability whose shares belong to Bayer CropScience. Both are based in Belgium.

According to documents, scientists found no evidence of new hazards, exposure modifications or uncertainties capable of altering the original risk assessments. In the case of the 40-3-2 event, cultivation in the European Union continues, despite there being permission for food and feed uses.
