The Batata Program marks the presence of DuPont Produtos Agrícolas at the Potato Festival, which takes place from the 23rd to the 28th of July, in Vargem Grande Paulista (SP). Organized by the City Hall with sponsorship from Facab – Faculdade Casa Branca - the event will bring together producers, researchers, official bodies and companies in the cultural input sector.

The Potato Program aims mainly to protect crops against late blight and alternaria diseases (or early blight), and pests such as potato moth and various caterpillars that are difficult to control.

According to agronomist Ademilson Villela, DuPont's Specialties marketing manager, the methodology developed by the company is supported by the action of a line of high-tech products, such as the fungicides Equation® Midas®, Curzate® BR, Kocide® WDG and Manzate® WG, in addition to the insecticides Rumo® WG, Premio® and Lannate® BR. The basis of the program was developed by analyzing around 30 demonstration fields carried out by the company and consultants.

“The Potato Program helps farmers obtain maximum productivity and adds value and quality to crop production”, summarizes Villela. “We developed the program with the aim of helping producers chart a safe path to profitability, by obtaining vigorous plants expressing their full productive potential”, adds the executive.

According to Villela, the products that make up the DuPont Potato Program feature modern formulations. “Potato farming is highly complex in terms of controlling pests and diseases”, continues the manager, “by adopting modern protection methods, the farmer increases his productivity as well as the quality of his harvest”, he reinforces.

Villela highlights, in particular, the success that producers have had with the use of the company's new insecticide, Premio®, on difficult-to-control caterpillars.

“It is a state-of-the-art product, which acts with high efficiency on potato moths, borers and caterpillars”, notes Villela. He also highlights the importance of the Lannate® insecticide, “a technology recognized for its powerful shock effect and broad spectrum of control”. Villela also says that the company's line of insecticides, including Rumo® WG, allows efficient management of potato pests, with an excellent cost-benefit ratio.

In relation to fungicides, Ademilson Villela remembers that all brands linked to the Potato Program are known to the producer, according to application and control specifications. “Equation®, for example, has a reputation for high reliability, as it has been generating results for farmers in protecting their crops against late blight and alternaria diseases for many years”, concludes the executive.

According to DuPont, although the focus of its participation in the Potato Festival is on this crop, similar treatment programs have been developed to protect grape, onion, tomato and melon crops, among other fruits and vegetables. More information: www.dupontagricola.com.br.
