Event for farmers and resellers took place on the 15th and 16th, with lectures on agricultural pesticides and the future of agribusiness
The company DuPont Crop Protection announced last Friday, 18th, in the city of São Paulo, the list of soybean farmers who won the DuPont Colheita Farta competition in the 2016/17 harvest. Thirteen producers from a total of 332 entries were selected for the very final, after regional stages of the competition, which took place across the entire Brazilian soybean agricultural frontier.
Soybean farmer Antônio Paulo Simon Pereira, from Uberlândia (MG), was the champion of the Cerrado region. It produced an average of 119 bags per hectare with the adoption of the DuPont Soya program to control pests and diseases. In second and third place were Eduardo Basso Valim, from Maracaju (MS) and Elton Zanella, from Campos de Júlio (MT). Valim produced 113 bags of soybeans per hectare, compared to 111,42 bags per hectare for Zanella.
In the Eastern region of the country, soybean farmer Eloir Geraldo Tozetto, from Ponta Grossa (PR), won the victory, producing 137,85 bags per hectare. Next comes Paulo Henrique Kievtsbosch, from Holambra (SP) with 111,11 bags/ha. Producers Vinícius Arnold Kramer, from Santo Antônio do Planalto (RS) and Sonimar Antônio Gregio, from Pitanga (PR), technically tied for third place, with an average productivity of 100,3 bags/ha.
According to DuPont, in the 2016-17 harvest, the DuPont Colheita Farta competition criteria took into account the effectiveness of the DuPont Soja program on oilseed productivity, from the pre-planting stage to harvest. The methodology focuses on the control of pests, diseases and weeds through the application of the fungicide Aproach Prima, the insecticide for seed treatment Dermacor, the insecticides Avatar, Benevia, Lannate and Premio and the herbicide Classic.
One of the finalists of the competition that ended last Friday, soybean farmer Antônio Paulo Simon Pereira, from the city of Uberlândia (MG), says that participating in the competition helps him to better understand the characteristics of his crop. “The management of pests, diseases and weeds with the company's products is efficient, and the competition helps us to understand, for example, the ceiling of the property's productive potential", says Pereira.
For producer Eloir Geraldo Tozetto, another finalist in the competition, who grows soy in the city of Ponta Grossa (PR), participating improves knowledge to improve management techniques on his property. “It is a stimulus to research, test new technologies and increase crop productivity", says Tozetto.
“The inputs that make up the DuPont Soy Program are high technology and help producers achieve high productivity rates throughout the country. The insecticide Lannate is applied in the pre-planting stage. Dermacor seed treatment, recommended at the planting stage, while Classic herbicide is used to desiccate the crop. In the crop development phase, the program covers the insecticides Avatar, Benevia, Lannate and Premio, in addition to the fungicide Aproach Prima", concludes the marketing director of DuPont Brasil, Raphael Godinho.
The awards event in the capital of São Paulo also featured a lecture by agribusiness consultant Carlos Cogo, who addressed current trends in the soybean and corn market, the prospects for the next summer harvest and other relevant topics in the agricultural sector.
