Driven by agriculture, Mato Grosso's GDP grew three times more than the country's in 2023

Mato Grosso's economic growth in 2023 was three times greater than the national one. This is what the “Regional Review” report from Banco do Brasil indicates. While the State closed the year with a 10,6% increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the country's performance was 2,9%.  

Based on the monitoring of state economic indicators, the document indicates that the State's good performance was driven mainly by agricultural production, which increased the state's agricultural GDP by 23,4% last year. This was the third largest in the country, behind only Mato Grosso do Sul (31,9%) and Tocantins (25,6%). National growth was R$ 15,1%. 

According to the survey, Mato Grosso leads the ranking in the Central-West region and had the second highest economic growth in the country, behind only Tocantins, which recorded an 11,1% increase in GDP. 

“Mato Grosso has consolidated itself as one of the fastest growing states in the country and this is a reflection of all our investments to bring legal security, better quality of life and a prosperous environment for our population, our producers and the companies that settle here ”, highlighted governor Mauro Mendes.
