The VII Meeting of ABPSAP (Brazilian Association of Precision Agriculture Service Providers) has ended in the city of Goiânia/GO. With more than 150 Precision Agriculture companies participating, this was the largest meeting in the sector. Many topics were discussed, including the current market scenario for fertilizers, inputs and grains. Among several highlights, speaker Lucas Carlos from FC Stonex presented an average increase of approximately 300% in the price of Urea, Potassium Chloride (KCl), DAP and Super Triple (STP) over the last 29 months.

“These are the main inputs that the producer uses in his soil to make it nutritionally viable and balanced. This increase in value shows how the cost of production is impacting the producer's pocket and, subsequently, could impact the consumer's pocket”, highlights Alan Acosta, CEO of Drakkar, an associated company.

Drakkar has been promoting Precision Agriculture (AP) for over 15 years and today provides the market with the largest team of specialized professionals in order to bring more efficiency to rural producers.

“It is important that producers think that investing in excellent soil fertility management will bring them many benefits in the future”, emphasizes Acosta. “Producers who started their AP technological projects 1 year ago or more are now buying inputs rationally, without waste and correcting the soil so that the plants reach their maximum productive potential, ensuring not only savings, but also higher production levels”, he adds.

Data presented and discussed at the event indicate that only 1/3 of Brazilian grain producers consistently adopt AP work. At a time when fertilizer costs are sky-high, mapping soil fertility can represent fertilizer savings of 10 to 50% and also increase efficiency per kilogram of fertilizer applied in the right quantity and in the right location. Today, AP's rate of return is in the order of 4 to 10 times the amount invested, with Drakkar achieving a contract renewal rate of 75% in 2021 and having an estimated area of influence of 4 million hectares.

Other topics that were also discussed at the event dealt with the Precision Agriculture Market in Brazil, Soil Sampling Methodologies, Soil Profile Construction, Variable Seed Rate, Soil Compaction, Carbon Market and Digital Agriculture.
