This week, Dow AgroSciences begins training for the Responsible Application Program, one of the company's Good Agricultural Practices projects, developed with the aim of promoting responsibility, quality and safety during the application of agricultural pesticides. The target planned for 2017 foresees 110 training courses to train around 2800 farmers, technicians and sprayer operators.

In partnership with the São Paulo State University (UNESP) of Botucatu, this year's training will be carried out in large-scale crops, sugar cane, horticulture, family farming and seed production fields, highlighting the commitment to sustainability throughout the production chain, passing through all 5 macro-regions of Brazil.

“To empower participants, responsible application concepts are shared in a theoretical and practical way. We take the drift simulator to each training session, a piece of equipment that makes it possible to demonstrate real wind conditions and droplet sizes from applications”, comments the coordinator of Good Agricultural Practices at Dow AgroSciences, Ana Cristina Pinheiro. “The objective of using the simulator is to present to participants the real effect of using each type of technology - spikes and pressure -, according to the wind speed at the time of application, avoiding the waste of agricultural pesticides”, she adds.

The idea is to improve the efficiency of application technology through the correct maintenance and calibration of sprayers in the field, careful choice of droplet size, application volume and verification of climatic conditions at the time of application, thus, the producer optimizes your operations, reduces losses and improves your productivity. With the Responsible Application Program, the company promotes awareness of Good Agricultural Practices initiatives, encouraging the optimization of resources, the reduction of impact on the environment and greater sustainability for agribusiness.

Digital Libraries of Good Agricultural Practices

To further reinforce and expand all the work developed by Dow AgroSciences in Good Agricultural Practices, the company also has its digital library focused on the topic. The idea is to provide the public with knowledge and quality information about the main pillars that permeate the entire cultivation process. Specific content on Weed Management, Integrated Pest Management, Application Technology and Worker Safety are available in different tools, such as webinars, e-books, articles, videos, among others, enabling connectivity and interaction in a fast and affordable.
