Dilvo Grolli highlights the role and importance of agriculture at the launch of the 35th Rural Show
Brazilian agribusiness productivity has grown 440% in the last 32 years, an average of 5,4% per year
Launched by the Forest Code Observatory (OCF), the Forest Code Thermometer is a free and updated digital platform with information on vegetation coverage throughout the national territory, from the perspective of the Forest Code.
The tool was developed by the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM) with contributions from several organizations. It presents information with updated maps and graphs. The information can also be viewed by states and municipalities, in addition to the aggregate for the entire country and Brazilian biomes.
For Roberta del Giudice, executive secretary of the Forest Code Observatory, the Thermometer is a powerful tool for formulating public policies. From it, it is possible to define priority areas and allocate public efforts more efficiently, both for forest protection and land conflicts.
Eugênio Pantoja, director of Public Policies and Territorial Development at the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM), recalls that the launch of the Thermometer takes place at a political moment of change.
The platform uses internationally recognized national technology software, explains professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) Raoni Rajão.
