Agribusiness carries evolution in its DNA, a force that information and relationships through technology transfer have always exerted. The isolation measures recommended to stop the spread of Covid-19 this year changed not only the urban environment, but also the dynamics of knowledge dissemination in agribusiness and, with that, the field days focused on wheat cultivation, traditional during this period. of the year, begin to take on a new format on the internet. With the intention of continuing to bring information and news to wheat farmers, mills and partners, and making a commitment to the health of those who are part of the wheat chain and who have always attended its in-person events, Biotrigo Genética holds its traditional field day for the first time in a live, online format, open to the public and free of charge. The broadcast takes place on August 27th, at 8:30 am.

Field Day will be the company's fifth digital event in 2020. For Biotrigo, the current moment provided an opportunity to expand the exchange of knowledge in the virtual environment while maintaining the effectiveness of in-person events. For the commercial manager of Biotrigo Genética for Latin America (Latam), Fernando Michel Wagner, Biotrigo's digital experience is consolidated. “We are not just following a simple trend, as we challenge ourselves to create something innovative, authentic and that has a function in the field. With this, we impacted more than 30 thousand people in the series of wheat webinars that we held between March and July this year. Safely and with great interaction, our experiments proved to be effective. We had registrations and access from people from 14 Brazilian states and several wheat-producing countries,” he said.

Focused on technology, technical recommendations and trends for the wheat chain, the transmission takes place directly from the Biotrigo Research Center, in Passo Fundo/RS and interactively at six stations of interest in the Biotrigo experimental field in Arapongas/PR. The area is one of more than 70 trials where the company annually evaluates the genetic potential of more than 30 strains of wheat before reaching wheat producers in several Latin American countries.

Allies in weed management

The technical positioning of two wheat cultivars that combine with integrated weed management are the focus of one of the seasons. The solutions – TBIO Ello CL and TBIO Capricho CL are the first wheat cultivars with Clearfield technology in Brazil. In the next harvests, they will be important tools to reduce infestations, since in wheat crops, oats and ryegrass can be responsible for up to 50% of productivity losses, according to data from the ABC Foundation.

Much more safety in the field and for the consumer

Another highlight that will be presented in the field is the launch cultivar for multiplication in 2021, TBIO Trunfo. Wheat helps producers control Fusarium head blight and blast, the main and most challenging diseases that are difficult to control. Bruno Alves, northern regional commercial manager at Biotrigo, who presents the technology, highlights how the company's research has achieved an unprecedented combination of reaction to these diseases with good agronomic characteristics, high production potential and quality of flour for baking. “Genetics is the main tool where other control measures are still inefficient in the field and this material surprised us with scores considered excellent for Giberella and Brusone, in addition to the low level of DON in epidemic years”, he comments.

Pre-harvest desiccation

Luís Henrique Penckowski, Technical Manager of Research and Development at Fundação ABC will add to the schedule of technical lectures talking about the recommendations and benefits of pre-harvest desiccation in wheat crops. The technique brings several benefits to the producer, such as anticipation and stability in the wheat harvest; planting in time for the summer harvest; the standardization of the crop (earing and maturation) and, also, the control of weeds for the next crop.

The future has changed... Right on my turn!

Pandemic, digital transformation, new technologies and a revolution in the ways of communicating, thinking, acting, cooperating, relating, transacting, buying, selling, informing and working. The world is going through many changes and in agriculture it is no different: broad adaptability has become a prerequisite in work, personal and business relationships. But why “The future changed... Right on my turn?” This will be the theme of the guest speaker, Dado Schneider, Master and Doctor in Communication and scholar on generations and their behaviors. Author of the book “The world has changed… Right on my turn!”, he states that “change is understanding what is happening in order to accept what is there. We are unprecedented adults because, in addition to being the longest-lived humans to date, we have also never been exposed to so many changes - and this will increase over time, in volume and complexity.”
