xarvio Field Manager is a digital solution, specifically developed to help farmers make the most of the potential of their fields. Therefore, it is possible to increase efficiency, save time, optimize inputs for crop protection and, at the same time, contribute to sustainable agriculture.

With xarvio Field Manager and its "Digital Weed Mapping" functionality, farmers were able to reduce, on average, 61% the use of herbicides in the last harvest to control resistant and difficult-to-control weeds. The solution, which had its commercial pre-launch in the 2019/2020 harvest and was made available on 100 agricultural properties, will be commercially launched on August 20th. Farmers in the main soy producing regions, such as Goiás, Mato Grosso and Bahia, have already approved the use of the technology and noted its benefits.

"There were two plots on my farm where I had no hope of efficiently controlling weeds and still saving on herbicide. The xarvio Field Manager team spoke to me, flew over the area with the drone, brought me the results and, within 48 hours , provided me with an application map for specific weed control. After that, I was able to prove that it was possible to save money by using xarvio Field Manager. The tool really does everything it says and the best thing is that Basf can make the producer see value in it", commented Agricultural Engineer and Rural Producer, Júlio Priori.

In addition to application maps for specific weed control, xarvio Field Manager also provides herbicide recommendations that optimize the mode of action to avoid resistance in areas. The "Digital Weed Mapping" solution works entirely through cloud archiving.

The photos are taken with a drone capable of recording more than 7 high-resolution images per hectare. The drone can also reach a speed of approximately 70 km/h and a maximum height of 120 meters, according to official regulations from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

Lucas Marcolin, Digital Farming Marketing Manager at Basf, says that controlling resistant and difficult-to-control weeds is one of the main needs of soybean producers. "Weed competition brings significant losses in crop productivity. xarvio Field Manager came to provide more efficient management, with optimization of resources, as well as comprehensive technical support in the field", he explained.

The tool also has free resources:

• Status of plots with specific management recommendations;

• Weather forecasts indicating ideal application windows;

• Nutrient management with variable rate fertilization maps for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium and dosage recommendations for P&K (available from October 01st);

• Complete documentation of each field-specific task.

If the customer wants satellite images, it is possible to purchase the Field Monitor and, for herbicide application maps, Digital Weed Mapping. xarvio Field Manager is available free of charge in a mobile version, for both Android and iOs, and also for desktop.

"Basf is an Agricultural Solutions company and our objective is to offer a complete and integrated portfolio with seeds, crop protection solutions and digital services. Brazilian farmers are increasingly using technology in farming to improve agricultural efficiency. We are committed to meeting the needs of farmers, supporting them to achieve greater efficiency and contribute to sustainable agriculture", comments Almir Araújo, Head of Digital Agriculture at Basf in Latin America.
