DigiFarmz won the title of champion of the Sebrae Like a Boss Challenge, a competition that aims to accelerate business connection and expansion. With a digital platform providing intelligent guidance on phytosanitary management, the Startup from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, participated in the final of the competition on Friday, October 23, during the Startup Summit & Case online event. In addition to the Sebrae Like a Boss award, the national champion will also participate in the final of Get in the Ring Internacional, in Canada, in February 2021.
The Startup was among eight selected companies that participated in competitions in a virtual space that simulates boxing rings with five pitch “rounds”. The competitors presented their solutions in categories of team, achievements, market and business model, results, financial projections and free theme. Meanwhile, jurors made up of investors and experts evaluated the proposals. Among the evaluators were serial entrepreneur and investor, Cris Arcangeli, Rodrigo Olmedo, from Uglobally, Vinny Machado, from Startadora, Lícia Souza, from We Impact, and Rodrigo Paolilo, from Grupo Rede+.
DigiFarmz has developed a platform that combines research data, climatological information, cultivar genetics, sowing dates, location and other parameters that allow intelligent recommendations to assist in the phytosanitary management of crop diseases. The solution, focused on soybean crops, has already begun to be improved to also be used in corn, wheat and cotton crops, with new nutritional recommendations.
The solution promises to contribute to the work of producers, agronomists and consultants to generate more productivity with a focus on crop sustainability. “It is sensational to emerge champions in this event, which is a reference in the area and in front of so many qualified judges, who we admire. Even better is that we are an agribusiness startup, a sector that has a huge impact on people's lives, such as food generation”, highlights the co-founder of DigiFarmz, Alexandre Chequim.
Currently, DigiFarmz serves around 200 thousand hectares of crops of different sizes in Brazil and Paraguay. The number represents an increase of 250% compared to the previous harvest.
