Data from the latest analysis of the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), a survey that consolidates transaction price behavior at gas stations, showed that in the first half of August, the South region saw an increase in the price of both types of diesel compared to the first half of July. The average price of regular diesel increased 0,67%, reaching R$6,01, and S-10 diesel increased 1,68%, costing R$6,06.

With the price hikes, diesel prices in the region once again exceeded R$6, despite being the cheapest among the country's regions. Ethanol, in turn, fell 0,66% to R$4,55, and gasoline fell 0,32% to R$6,30.

"The diesel scenario in the South region changed in August. The price below R$6, which was a distinguishing feature of the region, was surpassed due to recent increases, bringing the South in line with the national trend. Even so, it's important to highlight that the region continues to have the cheapest diesel in Brazil, which highlights a still favorable market and logistics situation. For light vehicle drivers, the news remains positive, with further drops in gasoline and ethanol prices, reinforcing consumer choice when refueling. This dynamic highlights the importance of drivers always calculating which fuel is most advantageous. Although the IPTL indicates that gasoline is the best financial option in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, we emphasize that ethanol is also a choice that favors more sustainable mobility," he emphasizes.
