The latest analysis of the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), a survey that consolidates the behavior of transaction prices at gas stations, providing a precise average, showed that, in April, the average prices of all types of fuel decreased in the South region. Ethanol was sold, on average, at R$4,70 and gasoline at R$6,47, figures that represent reductions of 0,42% and 0,15%, respectively. Meanwhile, regular diesel, after a drop of 2,37%, was sold at an average of R$6,18 and S-10 diesel, which fell 2,35%, had an average of R$6,23.

“After small variations in March, April saw a drop in fuel prices not only in the South, but throughout the country. This is mainly due to the expansion of the sugarcane harvest, which increased the availability of ethanol, combined with the expectation of changes in the biofuel blending policy, in addition to two adjustments made by Petrobras in the price of diesel this month (on the 1st and 18th), which created a more competitive scenario.

Given the low prices, IPTL pointed out that gasoline, compared to ethanol, is more economically viable in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. However, it is worth remembering that choosing the right fuel does not only impact the consumer's pocket. Choosing ethanol is a more sustainable decision, as the biofuel comes from renewable sources, produces fewer greenhouse gases and is less dependent on oil”, highlights Renato Mascarenhas, Director of Networks, Operations and Business Transformation at Edenred Mobilidade.
