According to data from the latest analysis of the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), a survey that consolidates the price behavior of transactions at gas stations, in the first half of September, the average price of common diesel in the South Region increased by 12,08 % compared to August and closed the fortnight at R$5,94; the S-10 type showed an increase of 11,81% and was sold at R$ 6,06. In turn, the average price of a liter of gasoline closed at R$5,93, an increase of 2,77%. The price of ethanol fell 0,95%; and was sold at R$4,16.

"Among the national highlights, Rio Grande do Sul registered the S-10 diesel with the lowest average price in the entire country. A liter of ethanol became cheaper in all southern states, while both types of diesel registered an increase. Ethanol, when compared to gasoline, was considered economically more advantageous for supply only in Paraná. Still, the fuel is more ecologically viable, as it is capable of considerably reducing gas emissions responsible for climate change”, points out Douglas Pina, director -general mobility department at Edenred Brasil.

The IPTL is a fuel price index based on supplies made at Ticket Log's 21 accredited stations, with a data science structure that consolidates the price behavior of transactions at stations, providing an accurate average. Its reliability is considered high because of the number of vehicles managed by the brand: more than 1 million, with an average of eight transactions per second.

National analysis

In national terms, the average price of a liter of regular diesel closed the period from September 1st to 13th at R$6,13, an increase of 11,86% compared to August. The S-10 type increased by 12,08% and was sold at R$6,31.

“Since the beginning of August, after the last readjustment at the refineries, the price of diesel has been becoming more expensive for Brazilians. The average value of a liter, which in July closed at R$ 5,02 for the common type and R$ 5,12 for the S-10, is already above R$ 6 at the beginning of September, the most expensive value recorded since March for both. New upward reflexes should be identified in the coming months with the reimbursement of part of the PIS/Cofins rate”, highlights Douglas Pina, General Director of Mobility at Edenred Brasil.

Also according to IPTL, no region recorded a reduction in the price of diesel, but rather increases of more than 10%, compared to August.
