Even with more active sellers in the Rio Grande do Sul market, buying interest prevailed in recent days, which supported paddy rice prices, despite the beginning of the harvest in the state. According to Cepea employees, buyers increased the prices of their offers, aiming for new acquisitions to replenish stocks. Producers, in turn, were also more active, focusing on negotiating the cereal that was stored in industries and cooperatives, taking advantage of current price levels to liquidate remaining stocks.

Furthermore, there is a need for cash to pay the costs linked to harvesting work. Between February 4th and 11th, the ESALQ/SENAR-RS Indicator, 58% whole grains (weighted average), remained practically stable (-0,17%), closing at R$ 51,13/sc of 50 kg on the 11th – on Monday, 10th, the Indicator reached a new nominal record, of R$ 51,58/sc.
