The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) approved the commercial partnership between GDM and Agro Amazônia to jointly develop soybean seeds in Brazil.

To achieve this, the two companies combined their main characteristics as a way to expand their business. Agro Amazônia brings its technical support capacity and coverage to producers with its capillarity in the distribution network. GDM participates in this partnership with its knowledge in genetics research, which has made it a world leader in its field.

Since then, Dagma, a brand created by the companies, has as its main objective to offer technology that promotes increased productivity in crops, in addition to becoming one of the largest soybean seed brands in the country. After Cade's decision, more of 100 thousand bags of seeds with producers in the sector by September 2022.

“Dagma brings a combination of know how that complement each other. Agro Amazônia has regional knowledge of soybeans since it began to be planted in the Central-West region. From then on, we began to add knowledge across generations, always respecting legislation and the client to perpetuate sustainable land use. Thus, it is possible through seeds to optimize the use of planted areas”, explains Luís Diniz, director of Business Integration at Agro Amazônia.

GDM's Marketing Manager in Brazil, Ricardo Franconere, highlights that the company contributes to the partnership through high-performance soybean genetics. “We have deep knowledge in seeds and Dagma comes to contribute to the Brazilian farmer’s business and make a difference in crops. There was a lot of focus on a culture rooted in producers seeking solutions that are more sustainable and provide better results,” he says.

The synergy occurs through the combination of GDM's expertise in genetic improvement with Agro Amazônia's commercialization reach. “In this way, the partnership provides a good opportunity for growth for both parties, in addition to increasing the supply of high-quality soybean seeds to Brazilian farmers.”

Participation in the seed market

The launch of Dagma takes place after three years of work carried out by the companies, from planning to the official announcement. The new brand arrives with the expectation of gaining an increased share of the soybean market, in the areas where Agro Amazônia operates.

To compete for space in this competitive market, Dagma starts with a line of six varieties, of which one is early cycle, three medium and one late cycle. Another important factor is that the brand will have, in its first year, Intacta, Intacta 2 xtend and Conkesta Enlist materials, which are the most modern biotechnological platforms on the market. “This also shows that Dagma is committed to bringing the most modern solutions to the field, with the technology that farmers need.”

Access to the market will be provided directly to the farmer through the Agro Amazônia distribution network, Diniz anticipates. “This work will occur directly to the farmer through our capillarity”, he highlights.

Regarding products, the GDM Marketing Manager reinforces that the idea is to change the level of production with very high quality seeds. “In addition, we want to deliver varieties with a high production ceiling to farmers along with pest management and weed control solutions available on the Brazilian market”, adds Franconere.
