The first planting season of soybean cultivars, registered for the traditional productivity test of the Show Rural Coopavel, will take place in the second half of September. Thirty-seven cultivars, some new releases, have already been sown in the areas designated for the park's plots, which has hosted one of the largest technical events in global agriculture since 1989. The 37th Show Rural Coopavel is scheduled for February 10-14, 2025, in Cascavel, in western Paraná.

The field work is carried out under the responsibility of agronomist Matheus Henrique de Souza and under the supervision of the general coordinator of the Coopavel Rural Show, also an agronomist, Rogério Rizzardi. In order to present the full potential of the cultivar to visitors, a significant investment is made in the various stages of the work, especially in management care. “The tests are important because they demonstrate the companies’ commitment to investing in innovations that significantly increase productivity and results in the field,” highlights the president of Coopavel, Dilvo Grolli.

All cultivars are planted in plots with the same treatment and specifications. “This is a precaution we have taken since the beginning of the productivity tests, and it makes this event, within the Show Rural, one of the most popular and respected in the country,” says Rizzardi. The planting of second-season cultivars is scheduled for the first half of October. In addition to soybeans, corn hybrids from national and foreign companies will also be tested.

Productivity

The results achieved in the productivity tests at Show Rural are eagerly awaited by companies and rural producers from various regions. The performance figures presented help to define, for example, the choice of cultivars that will be used by the farmer on his rural property, taking into account, of course, specific issues such as soil fertility, precocity and desired investment in management, says Rogério Rizzardi.

The productivity achieved in soybeans and corn, of the cultivars and hybrids enrolled in the tests, can be two and even three times higher compared to the averages achieved in Brazil. “This is an important contribution that Show Rural offers to rural producers every year, highlighting the power of research and information sharing, directly from the companies that develop this new knowledge for rural producers”, points out Dilvo Grolli.
