The Sugarcane Technology Center (CTC), a 100% national company focused on research, development and commercialization of sugarcane varieties, will participate in the 12th edition of the National Bioenergy Congress, which will take place on July 31st and July 1st. August, at the Union of Bioenergy Producers (UDOP), in Araçatuba, São Paulo.

The largest event in the technical area of bioenergy will bring together speakers to discuss market strategies, business management and agronomic production systems. Other topics, such as, for example, workplace safety and strategic communication, will also be part of the program. In the debate rooms, experts will discuss the best forms of integrated management of sugarcane varieties, strategies for pest control and promising varieties, in addition to presenting news in the sector.

The CTC's participation will be in charge of Mauro Violante, the company's Product Development Manager, with the lecture “Pest control with BT varieties”, which will address the impacts of the borer on sugarcane cultivation, the challenges of control only through chemical and biological pesticides as well as the effectiveness and greater performance that the varieties developed by the company – such as CTC9001BT – bring to the producer. According to the executive, the direct benefits of BT technology exceed R$ 2 thousand reais per hectare of agro-industrial margin, due to the increase in productivity per hectare (TCH) and the amount of sugar per ton of sugarcane (ATR), in addition to the reduction the use of industrial inputs and the cost of control.

Three other high-performance CTC clones will also be on the agenda in Congress. “CT022994, for example, is a clone with a late maturation profile suitable for production environments with medium/high productive potential, it has an upright size, drought tolerance and rare flowering. CT049005 is a clone selected in Goiás, with a high sucrose content that presents high productivity throughout the harvest, these two factors linked to low flowering give it a long PUI. CT022278 is a clone selected and developed in restrictive environments in the Araçatuba region, medium-maturing sugarcane with high health and its main highlight is high agricultural production – TCH. In short, we are reaching new levels of agronomic performance with the combinations generated from genetic advances and biotechnology, and we are very excited about the results that have been obtained”, explains Violante.

Held since 2008, the National Bioenergy Congress is a reference, establishing itself as the largest in the sector. In its 12th edition, the event will provide conference attendees with lectures on new management concepts, more advanced technologies and production systems that are highly applicable to the daily lives of plants. The debate tables will also address political and technical topics relevant to companies, such as combating technical fake news in the sector and other issues that guide this agribusiness chain, to make the market more efficient and sustainable.
