CropLife Brasil (CLB) has announced a new board of directors. The areas of chemical pesticides, biotechnology and germplasm have been changed.
Arthur Gomes, until now the association's executive director, will take over leadership of the chemical pesticides area; while Catharina Pires, who will join the entity on the 24th, will be responsible for the biotechnology and germplasm areas.
In addition, the CLB created the position of executive manager within its structure, which will be occupied by Renato Gomides, until now the association's administrative-financial manager.
The arrival of Catharina Pires and the promotion of Arthur Gomes reflect a strategy of renewal and strengthening of the main areas of the CLB. “We are fully confident that the new directors will contribute to strengthening the sector’s priority agendas, with new perspectives for the team”, highlighted Eduardo Leão, president of CropLife Brasil.
Arthur Gomes, now in charge of the chemical pesticides area, has a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in São Paulo and is a specialist in environmental law and strategic sustainability management from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). With a career at companies such as BASF and CHS, Gomes brings his experience in environmental, regulatory and intellectual property issues to CropLife Brasil. In recent years, he was executive director of CLB, responsible for strategic areas such as sustainability and stewardship.
Catharina Pires, who is responsible for the biotechnology and germplasm areas, has over 25 years of experience in public relations and communications. With a degree in law and political science, a master's degree from the University of Brasília (UnB) and an MBA from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), she has held prominent positions in institutions such as the Ministry of National Integration and the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). Her experience in the agricultural sector includes stints at Monsanto, Bayer and Nutrien.
The CLB is organized into four sectoral chambers: chemical pesticides, biotechnology, germplasm and bioinputs, the latter of which is headed by Amália Borsari. These chambers are responsible for guiding the association's guidelines, aligning its actions with the demands and innovations of the sustainable agricultural market.
