Payment of benefits began in December 2018 and will end in October. The Garantia-Safra aims to guarantee food security for family farmers who live in regions systematically subject to crop loss, due to drought or flooding. Farmers with a monthly income of up to 1 and a half minimum wages are entitled to receive the benefit, when they have production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%.
