Credit contracts in the first three months of the harvest total R$59 billion

The amount represents an increase of 3% compared to the last harvest (2018/2019)

The value of rural credit operations contracted in the first three months of the 2019/2020 harvest (July to September) was R$59 billion, representing an increase of 3% compared to the last harvest (2018/2019). Costing operations totaled R$35,9 billion (+4%), investment, R$11,9 billion (+8%), commercialization, R$6,3 billion (-28%) and industrialization, R $4,7 billion (+60%).

The highlight of the increase in the contracted value was funding, which increased by R$ 1,5 billion, with the National Support Program for Medium Rural Producers (Pronamp) having the best performance (+ 29%). For this purpose, the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) showed 14% growth in hiring and funding credit to other producers recorded a 5% drop.

In relation to investment contracts, there was an increase of R$841 million. The investment programs ABC (Low Carbon Emission Agriculture) and Inovagro (Incentive Program for Technological Innovation in Agricultural Production) stand out for presenting the highest level of disbursement in the first quarter of the harvest (39% and 36%, respectively) .

Compared to the 2018/19 harvest, rural credit contracts intended for commercialization have shown a 28% drop in value, despite the 1% increase in the number of contracts.

The numbers are part of Agricultural Financing Balance Sheet for the 2019/2020 Crop, released this Friday (11) by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat (SPA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), based on data from the Rural Credit and Proagro Operations System (Sicor), of the Central Bank . 

 Family farming

In the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), more than R$10 billion were contracted, with 453.339 operations carried out in the first quarter of the 2019/2020 harvest. The contracted amount represented 32,5% of the R$31,2 billion made available at the beginning of the harvest.

In nominal terms, the 2019/2020 harvest showed an increase of more than R$1,27 billion in Pronaf, when compared to the same period in the previous harvest (2018/2019), or an increase of 14,42%. Highlighting the increase in Pronaf Mais Alimentos of R$466,2 million, which represents an increase of 21,35% compared to the same period of the previous harvest. When comparing the number of operations, a decrease of -0,64% is observed, resulting from a reduction of -2% in funding and -12% in industrialization, mitigated by the positive variation in investment of 0,5%.
