Crea-GO, Embrapa and Mapa hold a course on Integrated Production

The event, which has 40 people, seeks to train participants to act as technical managers and auditors in Integrated Production

The training of professionals capable of ensuring the production of quality food, free from contaminants, from crops to marketing, is the subject of training being carried out at the headquarters of the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Goiás (Crea-GO), in Goiania. The event, which has 40 people, seeks to train participants to act as technical managers and auditors in Integrated Production.     

Integrated Production is a production system that covers standards, techniques and certification of food origin and traceability. The ultimate objective is to add value and attest to the safety and reliability of products from the field.

At this stage, the Integrated Production course focuses on the crops of beans, cowpeas and chickpeas.

Today (29/07), at the opening of the training, the president of Crea-GO, Francisco Almeida, highlighted the role currently required of agricultural engineers by society. According to him, market opening and international trade require professionals capable of showing the population that a given food was produced under ideal conditions, in order to ensure smooth consumption with regards, for example, to the correct application of agricultural pesticides. . “We, agricultural engineers, need to show that we are also responsible for the sustainable development of the country, said Francisco Almeida. 

The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Marcus Vinícius Martins, General Coordinator of Agricultural and Forestry Production, said that the training being carried out is the first course in Brazil in Integrated Production and Good Agricultural Practices, covering beans and pulses. The latter are dry grain legumes, such as chickpeas, a growing crop in rural areas, according to Marcus Vinícius Martins. “We also understand that this course is very promising, as it is a possibility not only of knowledge, but of employment, because, more and more, agronomists are starting to appear in Brazil, coming together to form consultancy and technical assistance and extension companies. rural”, he added.

The head of Technology Transfer at Embrapa Arroz e Feijão, Roselene Chaves, stated, during the opening of the course, that Integrated Production is a very interesting vision, which is based on standards for the benefit of society. “We are talking about food quality, environmental issues and production costs. So, these are very noble and current themes, very important for the development of agriculture,” she said.

The training course for technical managers and auditors in Integrated Production will continue throughout this week at Crea-GO and will include practical classes in the field, on two farms in the municipality of Cristalina (GO).
