This Monday (18), in the morning, Embrapa Arroz e Feijão was attended by the president of the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Goiás (CREA-GO), agronomist Francisco Antônio Silva de Almeida. Received in the Management meeting room by a team of researchers and analysts from the Unit and the Regional Centers of Embrapa Soja and Embrapa Algodão, he signed, together with the general and transfer heads of the research center, Alcido Wander and André Coutinho, respectively, the cooperation contract between the two entities, aiming at partnership in technical and institutional events.

The meeting to celebrate the training agreement between the two institutions lasted one hour. The opening of the activities was made by the two directors. The head of Embrapa Arroz e Feijão thanked the partnership and highlighted the importance of institutions with similar areas coming together to fulfill their missions. Then, the CREA-GO representative reinforced this statement, remembering that the two institutions must do what is up to them in serving society. “We have to do our part in serving society,” he said. Francisco Almeida highlighted the fact that the partnership is working and that he will soon participate in the CREAS leadership meeting from all over Brazil and that he will encourage all leaders to follow the example of Embrapa Arroz e Feijão in carrying out joint work like this.

This is the 4th year of this partnership, which has promoted highly relevant actions throughout the state, with workshops, seminars and field days, as well as the development of research in Information Technology (IT), in the municipalities of Mineiros , Rio Verde, Iporá, Itumbiara, Uruaçu, Goianésia and Goiânia, among others. This technical cooperation turned into a great opportunity for both institutions: Embrapa, in its role of disseminating and bringing to multipliers the technologies generated by research; CREA, on the other hand, fulfills its mission of improving the practice of its professionals. Francisco Almeida also informed that he invited Emater to facilitate some production arrangements, “you can't do technical assistance alone”, he stated, and invited Embrapa Arroz e Feijão to also take part in these works. “Embrapa is the technical potential we count on”, he concluded.

After the speech by the directors, the Unit's Technology Transfer analyst, Luciene Camarano, made a presentation on the themes of the activities already carried out within the partnership, including: “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or Drones)”, and “Transgenics and Management Integrated Pests and Diseases”, in 2017; and “Beans and their Phytotechnical aspects”, “Pests that threaten agriculture in Goiás: how to face them?” and “Agronomic consultancy and the impact of climate on the development, growth and productivity of crops”, events held in 2018. In these two years, the joint actions of CREA and Embrapa reached an audience of more than 2.500 participants.

In 2019, the events will meet the demands of the various CREA-GO inspectorates. Activities are planned with the themes: “Integrated Management of Pests (IPM) and Diseases (MID) of cotton, tomato, corn and soybean crops”; “Sustainable soil management in Cerrado crops”; “Management of irrigated agricultural systems”; “Agroecology”; “Training Course for Technical Managers and Auditors for the Integrated Production of Beans and Pulses”; and “Communication campaign for the launch of the Doutor Feijão app”. For these works, there is also the intention of bringing into the partnership members of GETEC Feijão, Comigo, IFGoiano, Ministry of Agriculture, Brazilian Institute of Beans and Pulses (IBRAFE), Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and State University of Goiás ( UEG), among other entities. The goal is to train 800 technicians in different topics.

The leaders of this partnership in institutions are: Francisco Almeida and Víctor Martins, from CREA-GO, and Alcido Wander, André Coutinho, Flávia Rabelo Barbosa, Márcia Gonzaga and Luciene Camarano, from Embrapa Arroz e Feijão.
