Research works to identify pest in cowpea plantations
The fly, still unidentified, devoured entire cowpea plantations in southeastern Piauí
Corteva Agriscience obtained the registration of the fungicide Vessarya (picoxystrobin and benzovindiflupyr) for the control of anthracnose, one of the main diseases of soybeans, which has a high incidence in Brazilian crops. The product covers most of the diseases that affect soybean farmers at the end of the crop cycle, in addition to acting on cotton, corn and beans.
“Corteva has a complete portfolio of fungicides and now Vessarya also controls anthracnose, one of the diseases that causes the most damage to soybean farming. This evolution reinforces the company's commitment to contributing to the evolution and prosperity of agriculture, through an efficient fungicide to control the soybean disease complex”, said Marcus Fiorini, fungicide leader at Corteva Agriscience.
Anthracnose is a disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum truncatum, with an initial incidence in the seeds and which spreads to other parts of the plant through wind and rain. The onset of the disease occurs more frequently in conditions of high humidity, and is visually perceived by black or brown spots on the stems, leaves or pods, preventing grain production.
In addition to anthracnose, Vessarya acts to control Asian rust, powdery mildew, cercospora and other pathogens common to the crop. According to the company, "the product does not require the use of oil in applications, in addition to having high systemicity and translaminar effect, providing better absorption and less risk of washing out by rain."
