BASF brings robust portfolio to the Rural Show
Company presented fungicides, highlighted seed treatment area, digital platform and Soytech and Credenz seeds
This Thursday (10/02), Corteva Agriscience announces that Haviza active is the newest fungicide in its robust innovation pipeline. The active ingredient will offer South American farmers another tool for controlling Asian soybean rust and other fungal diseases. Corteva plans to launch Haviza in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia starting in 2027, pending regulatory approvals.
Haviza is the third generation of the new picolinamide fungicide, discovered by Corteva, following the launch of the active Inatreq, a fungicide of natural origin for the control of Septoria in cereals and bananas, and the Adavelt, a fungicide scheduled to be launched next year, pending regulatory approvals. Picolinamide fungicides are known for their favorable regulatory, toxicological and environmental profiles.
“Haviza demonstrates Corteva Agriscience’s commitment to bringing farmers innovative, sustainable and geographically diverse products from our robust pipeline,” highlights Susanne Wasson, President of Corteva Agriscience’s Crop Protection Platform. “We are leveraging our discovery around picolinamides and their new targets to bring farmers another tool for managing soybean fungal diseases that have devastating potential.”
Yield losses due to Asian soybean rust can range from 10% to 80% in areas where the disease is established. The spread of the disease could affect farmers across South America, as Brazil leads global soybean production and Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia are among the 10 largest producers in the world.
“The active Haviza has demonstrated excellent control of Asian soybean rust, making it a great addition to farmers' efforts to manage existing diseases,” said Alejandro Muñoz, President of Corteva Agriscience for Latin America. “Additionally, Haviza will allow farmers to rest assured that any product labeled with this brand contains the exceptional benefits of Corteva Agriscience research, development and testing.”
Haviza will initially be offered in blend with the active Onmira, providing a new standard of control for Asian soybean rust and expanding control for key late-cycle diseases.
