Corteva Agriscience and Bioceres Crop Solutions Corp. announced an exclusive agreement to increase the availability of biological solutions in Europe.
According to information from the companies, they will work together to accelerate the regulatory processes necessary to bring a bioinsecticide developed by Bioceres subsidiary, Pro Farm, to the European market.
The product is a biological insecticide that can be as effective as conventional insecticides, the companies explained in a statement. It is suitable for conventional agriculture, with target crops including maize and other cereals, as well as sunflower and rapeseed. Once registrations are secured, Corteva Agriscience will be the exclusive distributor in Europe, through its Seed Applied Technologies team, and will also carry its Pioneer brand seed products with the technology.
Additionally, Corteva Agriscience will continue to market Pro Farm's Lumidapt, a growth nutrition seed treatment for crops.
Matti Tiainen, President of Pro Farm, a Bioceres subsidiary operating in Europe, said: “At Pro Farm, we have one of the world's leading bio-based product portfolios, with unique farmer-focused and field-tested solutions to meet this need. Through this partnership, we will leverage Corteva Agriscience’s extensive presence and experience to bring our latest innovations to farmers in the region.”
For his part, Jean-Philippe Riffat, EMEA Marketing Lead at Corteva Agriscience, said: “This agreement helps meet social and political demand for natural-based products, advancing our mission to provide innovative products that add value to the farm.”
“Our acquisitions of Symborg and Stoller reflect our commitment to investing in biologics, consolidating our position as a global leader in the segment. And Seed Technologies, like Pro Farm's Lumidapt, involve direct seed treatment, helping farmers get the best start to their harvests and reducing agriculture's environmental footprint," he added.
