Corteva Agriscience is holding this Friday (28), in Recife, Pernambuco, a special edition of the Responsible Application Program – PAR, which disseminates concepts of good agricultural practices and instructs professionals linked to agriculture on methods of applying technologies and the best use of available equipment. Small farmers and students from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco – UFRPE, who are benefiting from the Prospera Program, which offers training to promote income generation and the development of rural communities, participate in the training.
“With the union of prosper and BY we are promoting the sustainability of agribusiness. Having a high-yield and sustainable production system, using fewer resources and better techniques, preserves the environment and the ecosystem that exists around the crops”, explains Alexsandro Mastropaulo, Leader of the Prospera Program at Corteva Agriscience. O prosper It is fully aligned with the company's purpose, which is to improve the lives of those who produce and consume, ensuring the progress of the next generations. The program offers small producers the opportunity to learn how to manage their crops with a high level of technical knowledge, increasing the productivity and income of these farmers in less favored regions. “We were here at UFRPE in April to start a new phase of Prospera training, in partnership with the university. Now we have the opportunity to delve deeper into a topic of extreme importance for farmers”, adds Mastropaulo.
No Responsible Enforcement Program, farmers are introduced to responsible application concepts theoretically and through practical simulations. “The idea of this training is to improve the efficiency of application technology through correct maintenance and calibration of sprayers, careful choice of droplet size and application volume, and checking weather conditions at the time of application. In this way, the producer optimizes his operations, reduces losses and improves his productivity”, comments Igor Borges, Coordinator of the Good Agricultural Practices Program at Corteva Agriscience. The correct use of personal protective equipment is also covered in the training.
This week, the BY has already passed through the cities of Vitória de Santo Antão, São Lourenço da Mata, and Passira, where participants of the prosper. In total, the objective is to train around 110 people with the action.
Since 2017, the prosper has already promoted changes in the lives of participating producers. With the profit generated from program support, farmers reinvest in their properties and prepare to grow. Before the program, some of these workers harvested around 10 to 15 bags of corn per hectare. With Prospera this number increased to 60 in 2017 and around 70 bags in 2018.
