Corteva Agriscience and Coplacana have promoted, in the last two months, the Corteva Escola socio-environmental project in schools in São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiânia and Minas Gerais. The objective is to promote the appreciation of the agricultural lifestyle and the role of the farmer in food production and safe eating. The actions were carried out in 24 schools in 17 cities and involved the participation of 1.700 students.
The project awakens in children admiration for the farmer, for the importance of his work and for sustainable agriculture, with responsibility for the environment. Actions were carried out in the classroom with animated videos, activity magazine, writing and drawing competitions on the topics covered. At the end of the event, schools were awarded projectors, an item that allows digital inclusion. The students who wrote the best works (drawings and essays) won bicycles.
“Corteva Escola fills us with pride with every action carried out. Presenting this universe to more than 1.700 children is the first step so that they can disseminate the message of responsible farming to the entire society”, explains Julliane Fuscaldi, coordinator of Good Agricultural Practices at Corteva. “The participatory approach allows the assimilation of the proposed content and its dissemination to the family, promoting changes in attitude, awakening people to the practice of citizenship”, adds Julliane.
Education in Good Agricultural Practices
In addition to Corteva Escola, the company also promotes the educational project “Expedição da Agricultura para a Vida”, which aims to disseminate good agricultural practices. Using a traveling truck with a trunk adapted for a classroom format, the program travels to several Brazilian municipalities to offer technical training for agronomists, consultants and professionals who deal with farming.
There is also the Responsible Application Program (PAR), in partnership with the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Botucatu, which trains farmers in the application of pesticides and reinforces the importance of good agricultural practices.
In addition to these, the socio-environmental projects Corteva Natureza and Corteva Mulheres no Campo are also part of the company's Good Practices Program. Corteva Natureza raises awareness among students and residents of rural areas to adopt practices that contribute to sustainability in the countryside.
Corteva Mulheres no Campo identifies and exposes the reality in which women live in relation to their health and that of their family, as well as their importance in the professional world. Furthermore, it proposes the adoption of practical and healthy attitudes so that they can achieve quality of personal and family life.
