Corteva Agriscience continues to invest in potato cultivation and launches the Acapela fungicide on the market, which completes the company's portfolio for the segment, with solutions for all stages of crop development, in the fungicide and insecticide segments. In Brazil, potatoes are considered the most important vegetable, with annual production of around 3,5 million tons and an area of 100 thousand hectares, according to the Brazilian Potato Association (ABBA).

The launch features Onmira Active technology, Corteva's strobilurin, one of the most modern picoxystrobins on the market, with unique characteristics to combat the second most economically important disease for potato crops, early blight (Alternaria Solani). The fungus has a high capacity for sporulation and easy dissemination by wind, in addition to being capable of causing total defoliation of plants and lesions on tubers, reducing the crop cycle and causing low productivity.

“Potato cultivation is challenging and Corteva is at the side of farmers with the best solutions to achieve good quality, high productivity and greater profitability. With an exclusive formula, Acapela promotes superior protection for longer and visibly better results”, says Corteva's Hortifrúti Line Portfolio Leader, Alison Rampazzo.

The new fungicide helps in the physiology and health of plants, has preventive action, post-initial curative and anti-sporulating effect to control the disease. With the active ingredient picoxystrobin, the product offers rapid absorption after application, systemic and translaminar movement, vapor redistribution and the ability to diffuse through the waxy layers of the leaves. Another point to highlight is that Acapela keeps the plant green for a longer period, which increases yield and, consequently, the potato farmer's profitability.
