Corteva Agriscience launches technology to control weeds in pastures

Corteva Agriscience continues to invest in solutions to assist livestock farmers and the development of the sector and presents XT-S Technology, developed after more than 10 years of research. As a company in the field of weed control in pastures and present in this segment for 60 years, Corteva is committed to proposing improvements that allow for even more sustainable livestock farming. The launch is aligned with the commitment of Platform-S, launched by Corteva in 2020 and which directs the company's pasture business strategies towards initiatives that promote sustainability in the sector. 

Brazil has consolidated itself as the world's largest exporter of beef and today has the largest herd in the world, with 214 million animals, but there is an opportunity to further improve the performance of this segment in the country. One of the main factors that limit its productivity is the high degree of degradation of pastures. Weed impacts can vary from 20 to 57%, depending on the infestation.

XT-S Technology has a formulation with a combination of the active ingredients Aminopiralide, Picloram and Fluroxipir in a single solution, avoiding mixing, and is included in the herbicides DominumXT-S, PlanadorXT-S and TruenoXT-S. It offers a broad spectrum of control, being recommended mainly for semi-woody and woody plants. Among the main benefits, XT-S Technology improves pasture quality, resulting in greater meat and milk production and, consequently, a reduction in the opening of new areas, in addition to promoting greater efficiency and practicality in pasture management.

“In the last decade, Corteva has increased its range of solutions to the needs of the pasture market from 30% to 80%. XT-S Technology arrives to act on 43% of weeds of economic importance in pasture, generating greater protection for the pasture by being more selective and consistent in results, maximizing the use of land in a sustainable way, says the Line Marketing Leader Corteva Agriscience Pasture, Paulo Pimente.

The new technology is also versatile, as it is registered for coastal, tractor and aerial application methods, and provides more vigorous pasture. It also contributes to sustainability because it is concentrated, which reduces packaging to transport, store and discard.

In addition to the launch of XT-S, we will be adding new solutions to our current portfolio over the next few years.
