Corteva Agriscience participates, from December 1st to 3rd, in the 17th edition of the National Meeting on Direct Planting in Straw, which reinforces the importance of the direct planting system for sustainable agriculture. Promoted by the Brazilian Federation of Direct Planting and Irrigation, the meeting seeks to discuss the sector's main challenges and disseminate the latest research and technologies. The event is held biennially and, for the first time, will be 100% digital.

Corteva, which is a Diamante sponsor, will be present with its crop protection portfolio, reinforcing the importance of efficient solutions for the preservation and development of the direct planting system. On Tuesday, 1/12, at 11:30 am, the company will promote the lecture "Flexibility and effectiveness of Spider herbicide in different cropping systems", given by Felipe Lúcio, researcher at Corteva Agriscience.

Spider is a selective herbicide, applied to the soil, recommended for the control of broad-leaved weeds that are difficult to control in soybean crops, such as horseweed and bittergrass. The product has a broad control and residual spectrum and can be used perfectly within the direct planting system, helping to keep soybeans free from weeds and with their full productive potential.

In the last 6 years, the horseweed and bittergrass infestation has almost doubled in size in the country, causing losses of up to 6 bags per hectare. The problem affects 50% of soybean crops across Brazil. Therefore, Corteva continues to invest in research and innovations and will soon bring new solutions to further help farmers with this challenge.

The Direct Planting System began in the 1970s in the country and revolutionized Brazilian agriculture. Currently, the practice is adopted on more than 30 million hectares in Brazil. It aims to produce food in harmony with nature, based on three pillars: not disturbing the soil, permanent soil cover and the diversification of plants in crop rotation.
